Seiko Prospex Marinemaster SJE117J1 is a refined reinterpretation of Japan’s – and Seiko’s – very first diver’s watch from 1965, a landmark model that marked the beginning of Seiko’s expertise in professional diving watches. The original proved its reliability in extreme conditions when worn by members of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition between 1966 and 1969.

Inspired by the original case design and carrying the historic Marinemaster name, this model blends heritage aesthetics with a modern and elegant marine sports style. Beneath the box-shaped sapphire crystal lies a refreshing Aquatic green dial with a textured horizontal pattern. Rectangular Lumibrite-coated indices recall the 1965 original and ensure excellent legibility.

With a case thickness of just 12.3 mm, this is the slimmest Seiko mechanical diver compliant with ISO diving standards, despite featuring a box sapphire crystal and sapphire exhibition case back. The in-house 6L37 automatic calibre delivers high precision of +15 to -10 seconds per day and a power reserve of approximately 45 hours.
