The Story of a Finnish Watchmaker

Designer Valdemar Hirvelä has extensive experience in aviation mechanics, having worked in test flight engineering and mechanical product development. His vision for creating his own watch collection began to take shape through his work on projects for TAG Heuer and Suunto. Hirvelä’s goal was to create something new, something others had not yet achieved. This led to the development of the world’s first wristwatch capable of measuring G-forces, tested during the development phase by renowned pilot Sami Kontio. Markku Lehti, the other co-founder of De Motu, also brings significant experience from the aviation industry, having worked as a captain. A key strength of De Motu lies in this professional aviation insight and experience embedded in the watch design.
