RADO

Rado - The watch industry's fearless pioneer at the center of material development
Rado is a Swiss watch manufacturer founded in 1917 by three brothers. At first, the company's name was Schlup & Co, after the brothers' last name, the current name Rado only appeared on the scene decades later. Like many other success stories, Rado began in the home of its founders, as one wing of the brothers' home was devoted to machinery manufacturing. The Schlupp brothers' entrepreneurship and energy were soon noticed in the industry, as the company was able to quickly create a distribution and sales network that stretched around the world. The company's growth was fast, because by the end of World War II, Schlup & Co. was one of Switzerland's leading machinery manufacturers. The brothers felt that the time was ripe for rebranding the company and starting their own watch production. That's how Rado had started.
The first big success collection of the young watch manufacturer was the Golden Horse watch family, published in 1957, which can also be found in our selection. The Golden Horse featured a distinctive design element that has since become a trademark of all Rado automatic watches, namely the swinging anchor on the dial. In the 60s, Rado's watch production took new turns, when the company moved its premises from the brothers' home studio to a factory built specifically for watches. The new factory allowed production to increase and the use of increasingly advanced manufacturing methods. In 1962, Rado released one of its most beloved watch models, the still-in-production evergreen Captain Cook diving watch.
In the following decades, Rado began to change the design of its watches in a more futuristic and personal direction. Bold square shapes and attention-grabbing metal bracelets began to appear in the new watches. At the same time, experiments with different manufacturing materials such as ceramics also began. During the 80s, the company began to gain its current reputation as a pioneer in different materials and as an open-minded innovator in the field. Rado's technical achievements include e.g. the world's first all-ceramic watch from 1990, and today the company is particularly well-known as a manufacturer of ceramic watches. Owned by the Swatch Group, Rado - whose contribution to the development of watch materials is undeniable - is today fully deservedly among the most prestigious Swiss watch houses.
Rado watches for men and women
You will find a wide and comprehensive collection of stylish Rado watches for both men and women in our selection. Ceramic, which Rado often uses in its watches, also has numerous strengths compared to the traditionally used stainless steel. As a material, ceramic is significantly stronger than stainless steel and it is also suitable for nickel allergy sufferers. Despite its strength, it is comparable in weight to aluminum. Personal and recognizable Rado is the perfect choice for a self-confident wearer who doesn't want to follow trends but to create his own unique style. Our most popular collections include high-quality Captain Cook diving watches and the minimalistic Centrix collection.
