Seiko King Seiko Vanac SLA087J1 – A modern reinterpretation of a retro classic

The King Seiko VANAC is a legendary watch series originally created by Seiko between 1972 and 1976. Just like the original retro collection, the new versions stand out with their unique combination of high-quality Japanese watchmaking and bold design. It still stands out from the crowd and has earned a solid place in the hearts of vintage watch enthusiasts.

The modern generation of Vanac follows in the footsteps of the original and marks a new era for the King Seiko brand, introducing a completely new case design and size. The watch measures 41 mm in diameter, 14.3 mm in thickness, and has a lug-to-lug length of 45.1 mm. For this purpose, Seiko has reinterpreted the name VANAC, with the initials now standing for Vibrant, Active, Novel, Alternative, and Comfortable. The watches pay tribute to the captivating sky colors above the vibrant city of Tokyo – from soft morning tones to vivid twilight shades. In this model, the dial beautifully combines a silvery sheen with a white minute track and golden details that enhance legibility and create a luxurious overall look. The dial features a stylish horizontal stripe pattern and an inner ring that frames the indexes. The 12 o’clock index and the counterweight of the second hand display a distinctive V-shaped silhouette, reflecting the roots of the Vanac series.

Beneath the striking exterior ticks the precise Caliber 8L45 movement, offering a power reserve of up to three days (72 hours) and magnetic resistance up to 4,800 A/m. The watch is equipped with a sapphire crystal featuring an anti-reflective coating on the inside. With a water resistance rating of 10 ATM / 100 M and a screw-down crown, it is a reliable companion for everyday wear. The bracelet, like in other King Seiko models, is finely finished and combines brushed and polished surfaces for a contrasting look. The full bracelet length is 21 cm.
